I have had several dishes from this restaurant: Bun Rieu Bun Bo hue (my fav) Pho Tai Bbq rice plate in beef All were delicious, I'm a soup girl I need my soup at least 2-3x a week and I've been eating pho in Oakland for a few years now. BBH is my favorite to order, the soup is flavorful and has a kick of spice. Bun Rieu is awesome, can't go wrong with a bowl of this. Good spot for a quick bowl of pho. The BBQ meat rice plates are good, my only issue is that I wish they cut up the meat for you because it's hard to pull it apart without a knife. This restaurant is close to work and it is a newer pho Vietnamese restaurant. Inside is very clean and spacious, staff is nice and friendly. Excited to try more dishes from this spot!

What I ordered: ** 9.5/10: #13 Bun Rieu - $15.95 - hands down, the best bun rieu i've had in the bay! - broth was clean and full of tomato/crab flavor - so homey and hits the spot 7.5/10: #12 Bun Bo Hue - $15.95 - decent and would still hit the spot, but not the best i've ever had - like the bun rieu, the broth is also very clean! - lacking in lemongrass and spiciness First off, Pho Huyen & Banh Mi is not located in the best area. International Blvd is a super busy street and there is only street parking available. Once you're inside, there's plenty of tables making it great for larger groups! We ate here on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty quiet. The their food is great for the price and I would highly recommend trying their noodle soups! I think this restaurant deserves more love and I'll definitely be back again to try their pho or ordering togo. Food: 8.5/10 Service: 9/10 Total: 9/10

I think I may have found my favorite pho spot in Oakland's Little Saigon, though granted, I haven't been to that many on this side of the bay. I honestly just happened upon it because I was driving on International Blvd toward Lake Merritt. The interior was spacious though sparse on decor. There were only two people dining in a booth, while people came in sporadically to pick up takeout orders. The menu was quite robust since they serve not only pho but rice plates, banh mis, and all the expected appetizers. They offer twenty different pho bowls, but it took me just a nanosecond to order what I wanted, the $15.95 Pho Ga Co Xuong Hap. It was a large bowl of chicken noodle soup served with three huge pieces of steamed bone-in chicken - a leg, a thigh, and a backbone (photo: https://yelp.to/OesAOE8t-S). I swear the hen must've been on steroids. So succulent and flavorful, the meat fell right off the bone, but I will admit there was major splashing activity from my lack of dexterity in maneuvering the hot chicken pieces. They provided all the bean sprouts, peppers, and cilantro I could want, but the true get was the delicious minced garlic, scallion, and ginger sauce. I ended up taking half of the pho home because I wanted to make room for the $5.95 Green Pandan Waffle. That was really well made with no adornment of whipped cream or other nonsense (photo: https://yelp.to/myP6NSQfO0). The banh mi that passed by looked delicious with a very soft-looking torpedo baguette. I'll need to try that sometime but probably not before another steamed chicken leg. Savann is the friendly Cambodian owner who served me. I told him one of my most memorable trips was to Angkor Wat, and we couldn't stop talking about how magical it is there. FOOD - 5 stars...one of the best bowls of pho ga around AMBIANCE - 4 stars...rather spartan but spacious SERVICE - 5 stars...Savann was friendly and attentive TOTAL - 5 stars...well worth seeking out on International Blvd RELATED - Exploring Oakland? I think I just found my new favorite place for Bun Bo Hue. The broth is amazing and needed only a few squeezes of lime to enhance. They include rare steak which I'm not used to for BBH, but it's a nice addition. Noodles and meat were fresh and delicious. I can't wait to try their Bun Rieu next. Also their salted cream Cafe Sua Da is so good! I usually like it the traditional way but I couldn't resist to treat myself on this Friday. The salted cream is perfect with it. So glad I finally tried this place. I'll be back soon!

After a long night, I was craving some bun bo hue and beef pho broth to heal the soul. The beef Broth was tasty and has a slightly stronger ginger flavor than other places but I really like it. For the bun bo hue, it is a little saltier but more homey with the shrimp paste particles at the bottom. I was a little sad there wasn't any blood cubes, but the portion was huge. The meat was tender, and I'm not use to raw sliced beef in bun bo hue but it was good. Pork loaf slices are included and I order tendon to be included since most places does not do the pork hock. For the veggies, I wish there was rau ram aka vietnamese coriander, as I don't use the mint provided. The cabbage is a little thick but overall delicious.
